My book La Shawna- Release The Energy within is a collection of poems that covers the theme of religion but also is a story of triumph. The book pays tribute to two persons who have inspired me, The late poet laureate Maya Angelou and Author Ameerah Cooper. I am inspired not only by the way that they carry themselves but by the way that they are bold enough to write pieces that are deeply rooted from personal experiences. 

The book also pays tribute to persons suffering from bipolar disorder and dementia.
