Angry Black Woman.. Here's Why !
Every time I turn on the Internet
The hashtags hit me in the face
Orange is the new black
Red is the new black
ARE we replacing black?
As it is no longer accepted?
So we need a new color more palatable
Cause BLACK reminds you of too much history
So orange is better for you
So you can forget me
Then you want to know why I am angry!
We are angry that a single post on the media made you forget our heritage
Our beauty
We are angry you made the "don't judge me” campaign out of mockery
We are angry you still objectify us
As WE are mere beautiful buttocks!!
Hashtag all you want!
Ebony is a precious gem
Priceless and beautiful
If you think I will disown my heritage
My melanin
Well I will be distasteful
And remind you
That blacks are not replaceable
We are of much use
As Doctors
Lawyers
And Presidents
And BLACK women
Are first ladies,
Dance instructors,
And future leaders
Why am I angry?
Because you changed me
Contorted me
Made me fit your European image
With my straightened hair
Edited all my photos so I have olive skin
YES I AM ANGRY!
MAD AS HELL!
I am angry that you think we are good for nothing but sex
So you make your disrespectful comments
Never once did you research and see how many black women are graduating from college!
You are so naive
You believe
We are all baby mommas
Waiting on welfare
But if you check the statistics you will find
Our statistics are lower than whites
You ASKED Why I'm ANGRY
Let me explain
Black women are not just what you perceive them to be
We are empresses
Who came from Africa as HUMANS!
Not slaves
Black women are classy in every way
You should respect us
Instead of misrepresenting us
TIME AND TIME AGAIN!
And blaming us
For your suffering
Black women have stood the test of time
From Cleopatra to Michelle Obama
From Rosa Parks to Maya Angelou
From Aretha Franklin to Whitney Houston
From Dame Nita Barrow to Portia Simpson Miller
We have stood as Queens and leaders
So please do not disrespect us with your new campaigns
That orange is now the acceptable color
As we black women are strong and fierce
We black women know how to nurture
But also know how to fight
We have stood as pillars throughout the test of time
So RESPECT us when we frown
For we are TIRED
Of being replaced
And made into objects
We are tired of being misrepresented
And feeling less than we are
Because you tried to make black a minority
But it HAS NOT
AND WILL NEVER EVER WORK!!
This may be hard for you to swallow
But BLACK will be HERE
TODAY
TOMORROW
AND EVEN IN THE FUTURE
So excuse my frown
It is because I am tired of your racist crap
And inaccurate facts
Yes I am an angry black woman
But I have all rights to be
As you still try to belittle and ridicule me for my nationality
So I will frown and continue to be angry
Until you learn how to respect me
Hashtag till the cows come home
You cannot and will never replace me
